Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 2/3 cup shortening 2 Tbsp hot water 2 cups packed light brown sugar 2 eggs - slightly beaten 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips Procedure Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Melt shortening in saucepan, remove from heat. Mix in brown sugar and hot water, and allow to cool. Stir in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture, a small amount at a time, mixing well. Spread batter in well-greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Bake in moderate oven (375° F) for 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan.
