The brownie recipe came from the Pensacola News Journal. They reprinted it from the Ten Sisters Cookbook which was written by a family of 10 sisters from Ferry Pass, the "Gates Girls" in 1998. According to the article (11/23/2008) the cookbook is still available at Joe Patti's Seafood.
Ingredients 1/2 c oil 1/2 c brown sugar (packed) 2 eggs 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1 box devil's food cake mix 1 - twelve oz package chocolate chips 1 c chopped pecans or walnuts Procedure Preheat oven to 325F degrees. Mix oil, brown sugar, eggs, cream cheese and cake mix. Add the chocolate chips and nuts. Place mixture into a 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 325F for 25 minutes.
